Ukip is a threat to peace in Europe, says Germany
Rise of UK Independence Party hampers cooperation that has kept the
continent at peace, Germany’s foreign minister says

He has forgotten completely the impossibility of assessing the
historical significance of things that have not happened.

He has forgotten completely the "100 year peace" in Europe between 1815
and 1914 and this despite competition for empire between the European
imperial powers.

He really should get to his history books before opening his mouth.

The uncertainty is bad for business, fact. If UKIP are serious they
should be pushing "withdraw to EEA"- this is in effect the second tier
of the EU- costs less, get less say, still have to follow many EU laws.

With the in/out debate looming, it's difficult for pan-European
investors to assess the UK's potential fully. In addition, Celtic
Britain tends to be more pro-EU than Anglo-Saxon Britain- at present
neither Scotland or N.Ireland would allow a vote on security grounds due
to potential sectarian divides being opened up by campaigning.

None of this is illogical.

I feel Cameron, like Thatcher before him is playing the right tactic-
trying to get a better bargaining position within the EU.

For instance Canada being outside the USA doesn't make it's superpower
neighbour and it's huge influence over them disappear. Britain (or parts
of it) outside the EU would not free us on a practical level as opposed
to a theoretical one.

It's probably been a good thing to stay out of the Euro for now at
least, with the extra levers it gives British monetary policy chiefs to
pull.

As for the migration issue, the problem isn't actually the UK being
overpopulated- many areas in the north and Celtic regions are actually
depopulating, and in the prosperous south house prices and rents are
being driven up as much by British migrants as foreign ones. Until the
world population is humanely stablised, there will be a net migration
whatever laws and controls are put in place. Politicians should plan for
a top out of 100million by around 2050-2100, by which stage global
population growth has hopefully become stable.

Of course it is, and most of the population increase is due to
non-indigenous people.
