What's the point of these Royal Mail strikes?

1) It brings the company into disrepute.
2) Everybody just uses alternate couriers.
3) Their strikes are only single days, so the mail arrives the next day, no big deal.
4) The workers have to work harder the next day to catch up.
5) If they don't like their working conditions, why don't they find a job elsewhere?

The unions are stupid, and the government is stupid for allowing these strikes. Sack everyone who fails to turn up for work!

It doesn't arrive here the next day - more like the next week. I'm still
waiting for something posted Friday 14th (2nd class). What tends to
happen is all the mail tends to turn up in a batch. Judging by what has
been happening for most of this year, items posted over a week ago and
something posted a couple of days ago will probably turn up on Tuesday.

Odd, not much problem here. They just post twice as much through my door the next day, takes them no extra time.

Anyway, if enough people like you get annoyed, people will just switch to alternate couriers.

What???? We thought this was just us! I've got to the point of
considering recording the number of items each day. I have enough stats
to work out whether this is likely to be due to holding things back.

My latest is a 'phone SIM. "We'll get it to you tomorrow". Tomorrow
comes: email telling me it's been sent, and should be here in 2-5 days.
Today (Sunday) I got one telling that now I have my new SIM... which
presumably came in the Sunday delivery.

It does however adversely effect blind people, since many talking
newspapers and small packages with blind specific stuff in them are free, so
you cannot use this with a carrier. Only Royal Mail. Its a world wide
concession for the national postal services. It even works in Afghanistan.

So these strikes cause our listeners who cannot use technology, are confused
by the delivery days being all over the place and worse, it seems the
returning pouches and ram sticks seem to take over a week to get back to us,
causing us to have to give every listener multiple pouches.
So they are hurting the poorest people in society, for whatever reason they
are striking.

Why are Royal Mail free for such things but not other couriers? Doesn't that mean the couriers are being discriminatory and breaking the law?

Anyway as I've said strikes should be banned. Just fire them and hire people who want to work there. The lazy guys can work in McDonalds or something. Bring back Thatcher.
